I am here to tell you that you should never, I repeat, NEVER, reveal any creepy, crawly, slithery things that you fear most in life. If you do, you will find them turning up all over the place.
For me, it's spiders. Okay, so I just broke my rule, but having already broken it, and finding them when I least expect them (not the real thing, but replicas of them – and yes, they still freak me out!) I think it's okay to share this fear. I have no idea why they frighten me. I find them fascinating, but repulsive at the same time. So, this is what came to me in an email today http://www.onemotion.com/flash/spider/
Read all of the things you can do to manipulate it on the right. My hair was standing on end.
I bought 2 plastic black spiders that are pretty life-like, thinking they might help resolve my fear if I left them on my dresser, but have since lost one, I think. After finding one in my shoe several times and in places they seemed to jump out from, I figured out WHO was behind it and now wonder if the other one is really lost!
A friend of mine gave me earrings – yes, spider earrings. I also have some spider socks and a spider headband, none of which helps me get over being scared of them. Even talking about them makes me shiver.
Once in Puerto Rico I was walking down the street with friends one evening after it had rained. There was a tarantula in the middle of the street. We gathered around looking at it when someone had the bright idea that we should take a picture of it. But wait, someone should place a quarter next to it so when the picture is taken, you can get a good perspective of its size. As we look down, someone drops a quarter by it and I have never seen anything take off and run as fast as it did – and no one has ever heard me scream louder or jump higher – or those friends laugh harder!
Like I said, it's just best to keep some things to yourself.
And here is a picture of the earrings and the plastic life-like creepy thing.
