Yes, the dog days of summer are upon us. The temps are in the mid-90s, and it seems the pool temp is about the same. This means swimming much later in the day, which means I haven't had much computer time in the evening. And that's why you haven't heard from me. However, I've had a couple of Sparky Update requests so I thought it was time to show you his progress.
When we rescued him, he was just a little larger than the size of a quarter. Here he is now.
As you can see, he's growing up. It must be all those worms I dig every day for him, and all those flies Nick swats at night for him to eat.
We've had other water creatures visiting. Because of the hot weather, then downpours, it seems a lot of people have had frogs in their pools. These guys got released into a place where they wouldn't be able to make their way back to a pool.
This rogue summer visitor sprang up by the house. (gotta love those volunteers!)
And if I need some time to just contemplate on one of these hot days, this is where I'll be.
I'm off to the Jersey Shore for a few days to spend time with my family. I can't think of another place I'd rather be on a 95 degree day than on the beach – unless it is white-water rafting. That's where Nick will be on Sunday – a field trip with his younger co-workers!
Happy Mid-Summer
