It just seemed like the right thing to do, plus Nick needs to get into hiking shape so he can finish the last 56 miles of the 280 mile Long Trail that runs the length of Vermont.
It was a misty morning and looked as if Mt. Abraham was pretty socked it. That didn't deter us because the high 50 degree temperature was just right for hiking.
This is the head of the trail.
As you can see, we're headed into the clouds.
Rather mystical looking, don't you think?
A few hours after we started, we reached the summit. We sat and had some sandwiches and drank some water while we talked to the summit caretaker. A few other people joined us.
Yup, pretty socked in. If you're wondering what's behind us, here is an older picture of us on the summit.
It's a beautiful view from the top, but we'll just have to see it another day.
I did manage to get a bit banged up on the way down when I slipped on some wet muddy moss on a rock. – but aside from a massive bruise on my upper thigh, a small abrasion on my knee and a bruised palm nothing was broken and I'm no worse for the wear. Hey, life is short and you've just got to enjoy it when you can, in spite of the bumps and bruises!
Loved,Loved,Loved seeing these pictures of you and Nick, and the beauty of the mountain.
Good Luck Nick in the next month or two while you finish your adventure.
