Sometimes the things you find sort of, well repulsive, end up not being that at all. Here is what I found on the door as I was entering work today.
This guy was on the side wall. At first I thought it was a leaf. When I went inside I asked if anyone had seen the moth on the back door. Apparently he had been spotted, but the person who spotted him said she hated bugs so she didn't take a very good look.
I went out a little later to see if he was still there, and he was.
Then I thought he should really be away from the door so that no one would step on him, so I moved him to a box that had some bulbs in it away from the traffic. He spread his wings and, wow, under those wings were two blue eye-like spots with pinkish color around them. What an amazing difference! I found out that this is a a sphinx moth. Oh, and yes he is a guy, if you were wondering, because of the way he arches his back. (check out the first two pictures.) If you'd like to see some more moths, check out this site.
So, c'mon and admit it, bugs are pretty darned amazing if you just take a good look at them!
Nature is amazing. I have seen some pretty crazy looking critters down here. Home Mn has some to enjoy
