Not only is it Friday, it is the beginning of vacation – 9 days away from work. Wow!
I took a picture of my plumeria's last bloom because it won't bloom again until next winter. What I've learned about tropical flowers that you grow in your home (far away from their native ground), is that blossoms bloom a lot later than they usually do (in their native ground)!
Last year it bloomed in February and this year, well, it's been blooming for a couple of months. I've enjoyed every fragrant blossom.
After taking the final picture of the plumeria, I headed out the door to the garden and spent a few hours weeding. The clouds were gathering into what looked like an impending downpour, but nothing happened before I was able to gather a bouquet for the weekend.
I got the flowers arranged just as I heard thunder in the distance.
And then it rained...hard. Nick said he ran into hail on the way home, but it didn't hail here, just rain. And finally it did let up, so we went out to look at our pool, yet another work in progress at our house. I could still hear thunder in the distance and saw some streaks of lightening.
No comment on waving a big metal pole while you can see lightening in the sky. Knowing the insurance is up to date made me feel better – that and the decision it might be a good idea to sit on the back deck and enjoy a Friday after work drink.
A bit grainy, but I wanted you to see the line-up that joined us. On the left is a humming bird. On the right is a goldfinch. And that's a woodpecker on the tree. I guess they were enjoying happy hour too!
